About

Paolo Zucconi was born in Pescia, Italy. He studied political science and international relations at the University of Florence (2011-2014) and international security at the University of Trento (2016-2018). In 2018, he completed an internship at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies before working as a political risk analyst (2019). Since 2020, he has been a PhD student at the Graduate School Global and Area Studies and a research assistant at the Research Institute for Social Cohesion at the University of Leipzig.

Paolo Zucconi has been a research associate in the Department »Entanglements and Globalization« at GWZOsince 2022.

Current Research Topic

Following geopolitical developments in Eastern Europe - like the annexation of Crimea in 2014 – different attitudes towards the Russian Federation can be observed. The project aims to investigate the relationship of the Visegrad societies with Putin's Russia as result of socio-historical processes, current national interests, and changes in domestic political landscape.
